Rong Huang
Statement
My artistic inspiration stems from perceiving natural elements during my experiences living in different cities. I often extract and collect elements from the outdoors, transforming and reconstructing them to propose alternative realities and possibilities. In my recent works, I capture traces and abandoned objects: imprints left by tides on the beach, burrows of tidal crabs, human footprints, and rusty metal fragments washed ashore. I view these as languages or memories awaiting decryption, or as phantom-like presences.
I hope my work suggests that the space we inhabit exists within the blurred scale between microscopic details and infinite expanse. They hint at the transient and mutable nature of our world, examining how human activities impact nature and how nature, in turn, influences us.
