Noëlle Turner
Statement
Colour moves. It vibrates. I aim to communicate with it, dig up unknowable forces, and slow down: my abstract paintings encourage patterns brought about through chance, working with the flow of water to dictate the outcome of the work. I alchemise pigments, mixing with different chemicals causing it to break down. Colour can spread like fractals, and crystals can form on the surface of the canvas. Using bleach as a medium to incise signs and symbols like stamps, I am interested in the nature of ‘origins’ - how sites of erasure and deletion mark moments of creation and life.
