Nathaniel Trost
Statement
I make works from things I find around me and processes that I am attracted to. I am attracted to things that remind me of the interweaving of ecological and social processes. The processes I use — assembling, tying, sometimes constructing in clay — work to emphasize this closeness between the ecological and the social. At stake in this closeness is a knot of entwined questions about globalized production, waste and toxicity, vulnerability, care, and place. Thinking about these things may or may not be meaningful as a viewer.
