Jiaying Ding

Statement

Jiaying Ding is a London-based artist working with installations, sculptures, and performances. She is interested in creating autonomous artworks that have their unique space-time disciplines. She sees her artworks as theatrical sites with their own narratives and communicative wills. Her artworks often discuss the complexity of living. They reflect the
forces in life that we are in and not in control of. There is a persistent tension within her work showing an inner conflict that gestures towards transformation.

    Biography

Jiaying Ding (1997, China) completed her psychology degree at UCL (BSc., 2020) and is a
current postgraduate at Goldsmiths (MFA., 2024). The artist finds inspirations from her
physical experiences and theatre. She is fascinated by the critical distance between the
artwork and the viewers, which draws viewers’ attention but also rejects a full entry. This
interest is reflected in her artworks as psychological detournements.
