Statement
My work mostly consists of figurative oil paintings and ceramics, and most recently puppet making. I am interested in the practice of worlding imaginary futures, often drawing inspiration from the past. Most recently, I have been exploring medieval alchemy, focusing on the stories of creation of the homunculus – an artificial man. Through this process of historical unearthing and re-contextualisation, my work tries to invent a vision of future life teeming with safety, community and gender-non-conformity. Using methods of fantasy and science-fiction, I am attempting to find and create gaps in time and space where queerness, intimacy and experiences of otherness can find a home and exist untethered to oppressive social expectations.
