Alexander Tarasenko
Statement
My professional artistic practice consists mainly of long-term projects investigating problems of neurosis, states of anxiety and complexes characteristic of contemporary society. My art is deeply personal, although it cannot be called entirely autobiographical. It is better to say that I use my memories as a trigger and legitimising foundation for public observations on universal sociological and philosophical issues of our time that trouble me. One of the central fields of my research is the topic of personal trauma and initiation experience. I have also worked extensively with such themes as isolation, shame, taboo sexuality, and identity.
